Christopher Rose Architects wishes Nolan Sires a very Happy Birthday today. We have had the pleasure to work with Nolan on several projects. His firm Nolan Sires Construction does incredible work with an attention to detail. Nolan have a great day.

Below is an ocean view of a home we completed recently together on Eugenia Avenue on Kiawah Island, SC. Melanie Turner of Melanie Turner Interiors was the interior designer. Carol Jordan was our project manager from our firm.

Below is 35 Kiawah Island Club Drive another home we collaborated on. Beverly Bohan of Haute Design was the interior designer. Carol Jordan was our project manager from our firm. Our clients were so pleased with our team that we are now designing a new home for this family closer to the ocean on Kiawah.

Eugenia Home featured on Kiawah Art & House Tour Poster

The shingle style home we designed at 75 Eugenia is featured on the Kiawah Art & House Tour Poster. The Tour is next Friday, April 8th from 1 – 5 PM. The proceeds will benefit the youth of Johns and Wadmalaw Islands through visual and performing arts. This home was built by Nolan Sires, the interiors were done by Melanie Turner Interiors and Glen Gardner was the landscape architect. Great team to work with on this ocean front home.

Happy Easter and Happy 130th Birthday to Mies Van Der Rohe

This is the father of modernism Mies Van Der Rohe’s 130 birthday. Here is the Farnsworth home built in 1945 about an hour outside of Chicago in Plano, IL. It is a iconic piece of American residential architecture. He raised the house to catch views of the Fox River. Due the fact it is so close to the river it has been flooded a couple of times. Studies are underway to create an unobtrusive way to lift it when a flood occurs.

Happy 280th Birthday to visionary architect, Claude-Nicolas Ledoux

Ledoux explored visionary architecture based on simple geometry. Below is one of his famous series of buildings The Royal Saltworks of Arc-Et-Senans, this illustrates how over 250 years ago he created radical work based on marrying rationality and aestheticism. It has a radius of 185 meters which has five buildings comprising the arc and five others the diameter. Nine paths cross and converge on the director’s house in the middle.

Happy 507th Birthday to Andrea Palladio

Andrea Palladio whose 16th century homes were built as country houses for the wealthy Venetians are still being used as homes was born today 507 years ago. His symmetrical floor plans and classical detailing are still being used in residential architecture.
